Following the successful conduct of the 2024 off-cycle governorship elections in Edo and Ondo States, ReadyToLeadAfrica (RTLA) convened a Post-Election Press Conference under Project EO, a key deployment of its FollowTheResult (FTR) initiative.

The Post-Election Press Conference provided an opportunity to:

  • Share RTLA’s independent observation findings from across polling units and collation centers.

  • Present the performance of the FollowTheResult platform, which successfully aggregated and reported real-time results from the field through youth observers.

  • Highlight challenges faced during the elections, such as incidents of voter suppression, logistical lapses, and technology-related delays.

  • Acknowledge areas of improvement in the electoral process and make recommendations to INEC and relevant stakeholders for future elections.

  • Celebrate the role of young people in promoting transparency, accountability, and peaceful participation through their active involvement in election observation and peace advocacy.

The press conference featured remarks from RTLA leadership, technical team members, and civil society partners, all reinforcing the message of youth-led democratic oversight and post-election peacebuilding.

RTLA concluded the event by calling on all political actors and citizens to respect the outcome of the democratic process, seek redress peacefully where necessary, and continue to build trust in electoral institutions.

Project EO, under the FTR initiative, stands as a testament to RTLA’s enduring mission to defend democracy, amplify youth voices, and strengthen electoral credibility in Nigeria and across Africa.
