Requirements for SERVING Public Office in Nigeria

Requirements for running Public Office in Nigeria:

president

Citizenship: Must be a Nigerian citizen (by birth for the Executive Offices)
Age: President & Vice President – 35 years
Education: Up to School Certificate level or its equivalent
Political Party: Must belong to the political party sponsoring him/her

Governor

Citizenship: Must be a Nigerian citizen (by birth for the Executive Offices)
Age: Governor & Deputy Governor – 35 years
Education: Up to School Certificate level or its equivalent
Political Party: Must belong to the political party sponsoring him/her

Senate

Citizenship: Must be a Nigerian citizen
Age: 35 years
Education: Up to School Certificate level or its equivalent.
Political Party: Must belong to the political party sponsoring him/her

House of Representatives

Citizenship: Must be a Nigerian citizen
Age: 25 years
Education: Up to School Certificate level or its equivalent.
Political Party: Must belong to the political party sponsoring him/her

House of Assembly

Citizenship: Must be a Nigerian citizen
Age: 25 years
Education: Up to School Certificate level or its equivalent.
Political Party: Must belong to the political party sponsoring him/her

Chairman of Area Council

Citizenship: Must be a Nigerian citizen
Age: 25 years
Education: Up to School Certificate level or its equivalent.
Political Party: Must belong to the political party sponsoring him/her

Councillor of Area Council

Citizenship: Must be a Nigerian citizen
Age: 25 years
Education: Up to School Certificate level or its equivalent.
Political Party: Must belong to the political party sponsoring him/her
